HIS8G: History

This course examines the history of Canada from 1850 to 1914, a transformative era that shaped the nation we know today. You will explore the road to Confederation, the expansion of Canada westward, the experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples during this period, and the waves of immigration that contributed to Canada's growing diversity. Topics include the British North America Act, the building of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the Northwest Resistance, and the social and political changes of the early twentieth century.
